Invisalign®: A Good Alternative to Adult Braces
Invisalign is a new system of straightening teeth without the use of conventional braces. A series of clear plastic aligners are utilized to create tooth movement. Moving teeth with removable aligners is not new. However, the computer program, which can generate a series of aligners with small changes is the new part. Invisalign is recommended for orthodontic situations with mild to moderate spacing or crowding. They are virtually undetectable, easy to use and comfortable to wear.
Invisalign, the all-new braces alternative not only works, but it allows you to eat the normal foods you enjoy. With old-fashioned metal braces, foods like candy and popcorn are out of the question. Many other foods like corn on the cob are very challenging to eat. But with Invisalign, you simply remove the clear aligners right before you sit down to eat. It’s pretty simply and convenient. That goes for flossing and brushing as well. Just take your aligners out and brush as usual. If you have a social event to attend, leave them at home. They are almost invisible and most people won’t even know you’re wearing them, but you can take them out for brief periods of time.
How Long Does It Take for Invisalign to Work?
Each patient’s teeth are different but generally speaking, if you require only a mild correction, then count on about six months of treatments. If you have an average amount of correction necessary, spaces between several teeth, crooked teeth, and that sort of thing, then your treatment plan will most likely last from 9 to 18 months.
